Re: 6-4 Calvery
The problems with getting things to the 6/4 is the location. 14,000 feet, winter, Indian country. KBR won't run a convoy up the mountain, (I guess they be skeered), the only other way is by chopper, and they don't work very well when the air gets thin. They get deliveries, just not on a regular basis.
These guys are in the absolute worst place on the planet. They don't call it "Enemy Central" for nothing. Last year, the 2-503 173rd Airborne engaged in over 900 firefights during their 15 month deployment, ending with the Wanat ambush this past July. (Thats an average of 3 per day, every day) The 6/4 CAV is in the same place. Look out your window at the mountains ringing Las Vegas. Imagine 3 feet of snow, and you're sitting on the side of that mountain. Thats what the 6/4 is doing right now.
Oh and I don't mean to be picky, but it's CAVALRY.....;) Thats OK, Tankerbabe did the same thing.
Thanks again, Teri
